One year ago Radoop has just been a research prototype and we had a handful of initial beta testers who have been experimenting with the software. It has been just Gabor and me working on the project for over a year, but we have received very positive feedback already and there seemed to be a huge potential in what we have been doing. On 12th October, 2011, we have invited four more people to work with us and organized a kick-off meeting to discuss future directions. The meeting went very well and we have decided to found a company for developing and commercializing Radoop.
One year later, the team is still together and growing, and we have achieved even more than we thought. We have presented Radoop at Hadoop World 2011 in New York City. We have concluded partnership agreements with Rapid-I, Cloudera, and Hortonworks. Radoop 1.0 has been publicly released in July and it became a Cloudera Certified Technology shortly afterwards. During this year, we have been working with several very interesting companies and co-organized the RCOMM conference. In general, I enjoyed every bit of this work.
Looking ahead, I am very excited by the new features and new products that we are working on. I see Radoop is finding its place in the big data analytics stack and lots of companies are realizing the need for a fully graphical analytics tool that makes their lives much easier. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us during our first year and I am looking forward to the great successes ahead of us.
Happy Birthday, Radoop!
